Helicopter Hangar
Rase Steels, a family-run business specialising in steel structure design and fabrication, approached RESYN in search of a high-performance resin flooring system for a specialist application to a helicopter hangar in Grantham, Lincolnshire.
The client required a decorative, easy to maintain finish that would act as a protective coating to the concrete substrate. The system also needed to withstand the unique demands of the helicopter’s operations including potential exposure to fuels and oils.
To meet these requirements, RESYN specified and installed the KDR Epocoat HB system for the 144m2 hanger. The epoxy coating is ideal for helicopter hangars providing a seamless, decorative finish that can withstand the mechanical stress of the environment.
In addition to its strong mechanical resilience, KDR Epocoat HB offers excellent chemical resistance, including strong performance against diluted acids and alkalis. This ensures long-term protection of the substrate and simplifies maintenance for the end client.
Why RESYN?
The floor within the hanger could handle pedestrian traffic after 16 hours, however the helicopter could only be placed within the hanger after it had fully chemically cured 7 days post installation. The installation was carried out over three days, with RESYN's installers working efficiently to minimise the amount of time the high-value equipment was out of the facility. RESYN's collaboration with Rase Steels and expert product knowledge ensured the end result was a durable, low maintenance resin floor that is well suited to the demanding environment.
