IFT appointed to carry out works on flagship hotel in Edinburgh

IFT was appointed by the main contractor to provide the self level screeding in the construction of Carlton Hotel Collection’s £20m Market Street Hotel in Edinburgh and is a pioneering boutique hotel in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town.

This £3 million fit-out includes 98 urban-themed bedrooms and an exclusive top floor restaurant and champagne bar, with panoramic views across Edinburgh’s historic city centre skyline, and will open to guests on 17th June.

The works involved full preparation of the exiting substrate followed by the application of DPM/Priming. This ensured a suitable base for the installation of the self-level screeds. IFT provided SR1 tolerance to accommodate the following floor finishes.

Isocrete 1500 is suitable for fast track refurbishment and new construction where floor finishes need to be applied quickly. Suitable for smoothing floors in office buildings, shops, public buildings, schools, hospitals, airports and prisons.

Working on this contract provided its challenges in terms of loading materials from Market Street, working within small areas and tight time frame required to deliver the floor areas back to the client. The experience of our Contracts Management and installation team ensured that these were all overcome.

IFT is delighted to have been involved in this fine new addition to Edinburgh’s Old Town.
