The National Flooring Company shine at the Star Inn

Popular Leatherhead pub needed help from The National Flooring Company to specify and install the correct resin flooring system on a variety of substrates.

Family friendly pub The Star Inn, part of Barons Pub Company, was looking for a durable, slip resistant flooring system for their busy kitchen and coffee room. Based in Leatherhead Surrey, just off the M25, it is a popular spot for tourists and locals. With various different substrates it was imperative the correct preparation requirements were identified along with the correct specification. Barons Pub Company is a small, established company with all of its venues located within Surrey. The small, but elite, company decided to refurbish The Star Inn and to renew their kitchen and coffee room floors. The existing vinyl and tiled floors had become worn and were in need of renovation, not only to refresh their image but also maintain the company’s health and safety standards by providing a slip resistant floor. Having researched various flooring options on the internet the company approached The National Flooring Company for advice on a durable, resin flooring solution. The pub is a busy, thriving establishment which meant there were time restraints applied to ensure the pub did not lose any new or existing customers due to the kitchen being out of action. The MMA resin flooring systems that are installed by The National Flooring Company can be applied over various substrates including tiles, meaning it was possible to overcoat the existing kitchen floor, saving valuable time by not having to remove the existing finish. The existing vinyl floor within the coffee room needed to be removed and the substrate reinforced with 18mm marine grade ply before the new Degafloor FB system could be installed. This seamless, textured system is ideally suited to commercial kitchens where hygiene and slip resistance are key requirements. The pub had planned a two day closure and therefore it was vital that the installation was effectively planned and managed to ensure the refurbishment did not exceed this. Any delays would mean further losses to the pubs takings and also the possibility of losing their regular customers to a competitor. Following on from the successful installation undertaken at The Star Inn, The National Flooring Company has completed two more refurbishments for the pub chain.
