The client had a number of priorities but in particular requested a hardwearing, easy to clean floor with clearly defined working and pedestrian areas, that could be achieved in a quick turnaround time to minimise production down time. The client's requirements were clear, leading us to recommend a high-build Epoxy Resin coating system. This solution is ideally suited for the task at hand, as high-build coatings offer long-term reliability while being quick to install and easy to clean and maintain. Furthermore, they can be precisely tailored to the clients design , using different colours to demark areas such as trucking/pedestrian gangways. This makes it the optimal choice for the project.
Working within the clients brief to ensure the minimum production down time it was arranged to carry out the work over a weekend, ensuring that the floors would be light traffic ready for the Monday. The 274 square meter area of existing concrete was prepared using a diamond grinding machine to clean and prepare the floor and remove all contaminates before sweeping and vacuuming the area.
Once clean, two coats of high build Resdev Pumatect epoxy resin were applied in the clients chosen Mid grey colour to all the main production areas, incorporating a 0.2mm to 0.4mm polymer bead anti slip aggregate around the 14 machines. The mid grey was complimented with a 139 square meter contrasting green walkway edged with 75mm highly visible safety yellow demarcation lines. The job was part of a multi-phase project that was completed on time and with budget.
