800 SQM of HGV Vehicle Workshop Flooring System

It’s great to be called back by a regular customer to carry out more flooring refurbishment works.
PSC Flooring were called in to see 800 square metres of HGV workshop in Warrington for regular customer A&M Commercials. Moreover, A&M is a family-owned business that has been specialists in the truck industry for over 40 years.

Client Brief and Recommendation

The team at A&M Commercials wanted their new 800sqm HGV workshop, including the AFT Bay, to be hardwearing and easy to clean, which could be achieved with clean demarcation lining. During the site visit, we recommended applying a Damp Proof Membrane Primer coat to a 270 square metre area of new concrete. It was crucial to apply this before laying two coats of High Build Epoxy Resin, the ideal solution for all types of vehicle workshop flooring, including HGVs. High Build Epoxy Resin is hardwearing, easy to clean, impervious to grease and oil, and can be complemented with custom demarcation lines.

In Preparation

Firstly, to prepare for the recommended 2 coat High Build Epoxy Resin Flooring System the old concrete floor required fully preparing. We did this using our captive Husqvarna diamond grinders to remove any grime from the concrete and ensure adhesion. Similarly, the edgework around the pit area was completed by diamond grinding with a totally enclosed handheld 110v diamond grinder. Then the entire area was vacuumed clean of all residues and dust. After that, repairs were made to any localised damaged concrete, large cracks and holes, as required. This was completed by using an epoxy mortar compound and epoxy resin screed. Finally, the last step of preparation was to apply one coat of Resdev Pumaprime DPM to the 270 square metres of new concrete.

800 SQM of Vehicle Workshop Flooring System

Firstly, to combat moisture in the floor and prevent delamination, we applied the first coat of Resdev Pumatect MT. Furthermore, this is a moisture-tolerant high build epoxy resin, as part of the two-coat Vehicle Workshop Flooring System. Then, we followed this with a top coat of Resdev Pumatect High Build epoxy resin in the client’s chosen Mid Grey Gloss colour. After that, we laid Pumatect V black and Safety Yellow chevrons at the MOT pit and Rolling Road. Also, we laid this along the Safety Yellow reversing lines at four shutter doors. Additionally, to create a chevron border around the HGV pit area, shaker pads, and rolling road, we masked out and laid 55 linear meters of Resdev Pumatect V High Build Epoxy Resin. Also, this was completed in the colours ‘safety yellow’ and black in the dimensions of (400mm wide x 500mm long). Furthermore, we masked out and laid 120 linear meters (6 x 20 meters) of 100mm-wide HGV reversing lines. This was completed using the Resdev Pumatect V High Build Epoxy Resin in Safety Yellow. Finally, we masked out and laid a walkway in Pumatect High Build Epoxy Resin in the client’s chosen Chelsea Blue. Also, this was laid around the perimeter to link the offices to the fire exits, totalling approximately 42 square meters. We completed the project in just 5 days, on time and within budget!
