Coleg Gwent motor vehicle workshop by TPS360

Coleg Gwent is one of South Wales’s leading training providers for the automotive industry.
Their ATA Centre boasts some of the best facilities in the country, including a body shop, prep room, spray booth, and engineering workshops. As part of a wider refurbishment project, TPS360 was brought in to upgrade the motor vehicle workshop floor, ensuring it could withstand the demands of a busy, high-traffic environment.

SCOPE OF WORK

To prepare the surface for the new flooring system, we carried out a full mechanical preparation process using Husqvarna planetary diamond grinders with dust extraction. This removed existing finishes, oil contamination, and swarf while exposing any areas needing repair.

  • Handheld diamond grinders were used to treat edges along walls and around fixed equipment.
  • In restricted areas, surfaces were cleaned using industrial detergents and rinsed with clean water.
  • A roller-applied EpoSeal Primer was installed to suppress residual moisture and rising damp.
  • Two coats of EpoCoat HB, a solvent-free, high-build epoxy resin coating, were applied in red and grey, incorporating slip-resistant media for added safety.
  • High-build, chemically resistant Pumatect V was used to create durable yellow line markings, ensuring clear demarcation and longevity in a demanding workshop environment.
