FeRFA BEST PRACTICE AWARDS 2018

FeRFA APPRENTICE GRADUATION

This year we were delighted to welcome to the stage, 6 of the 13 graduates, who completed their apprenticeships this year.  Each was presented with his NVQ2 certificate by David Rowlands of CITB, who was joined by FeRFA CEO Mark Spowage.  FeRFA work closely with the CITB who support our training programmes and the annual graduation.

Children In Need

£535.32 was donated to this year’s Children In Need appeal – thanks to everyone who attended the event.

Saracens Rugby Raffle

£555 was raised from the Saracens Rugby Shirt Raffle, with all proceeds going to Kent & Sussex Air Ambulance.

FeRFA AGM & Elections

The FeRFA AGM was held in the afternoon of 23 November in the Gloucester Suite.  Following a welcome and introduction from the Chairman, Tom Dossett, the CEO, Mark Spowage gave members an overview of the activities of the past year and plans for the future.

There were presentations on:

Simulator

Cobra Insurance Brokers and Stallard Kane arranged for a ‘fastest lap’ competition in the Gloucester Suite entrance for guests of the AGM and Awards Dinner to enjoy.  Guests could drive round the Monaco Grand Prix Circuit to compete to see who could drive the fastest lap, with Matthew Shufflebotham being awarded this honour.

TRAINING NEWS

Resin 21 Complete Prepare Background Surfaces Module

The Preparation Group were the hosts for Resin 21 this month.  The group covered the essential techniques of proper floor preparation and continued, through a combination of classroom teaching and practical experience, with the various methods of surface preparation and choice of equipment available.

Apprentices in this group are: James Tyers (Reprotec), Daniel Morgan (Central Flooring Services), Jamie Carter (TPS360) and Carl Byrne (IRL Group). Image shows apprentices with trainer Stephen Walker and Steve McEvoy and Debbie Griffiths from CITB.

Resin 22 Apprentices receive an introduction to Resin Flooring Systems

Resin 22 travelled to Altro for modules 4 & 5. This, the second block on their training scheme, provided them with a comprehensive introduction to resin flooring systems and was followed by sessions on work practice and project planning on the second day.

Apprentices in this group are: Nicholas Dinsdale (IRL Group), Marvin Hall (KDH Projects), Sam Nunn (Ryebrook Resins), Benjamin Vaughan (Euro Resin Solutions), Joshua Jordan Smart (Euro Resin Solutions) and Adam Chantry (TPS360).

OTHER NEWS

Apprenticeship Scheme

FeRFA will be starting new apprenticeship schemes in 2019 in, In Situ Flooring: Resin, In Situ Flooring: Screed and Prepare and Profile Substrates.
