A Quality Floor for the Kennel Club Educational Trust

Project details

The Kennel Club Building at Stonleigh Park opened in September 2008 and is considered Britain’s best venue created to suit all canine educational needs from dog shows and training sessions to seminars and meetings. A completely dog friendly venue run by the Kennel Club Educational Trust (Registered Charity Number 1121454). Among the excellent facilities offered are two exhibition halls that can accommodate up to 650 dogs in each hall.

The site floor has originally been unsealed green asphalt, but it was stained and was proving very difficult to keep clean, even using strong, industrial cleaning products. It pitted easily and had become uneven, which was a big problem as the venue is available for hire and needed to look good. A tiled floor had been considered, but this idea was dismissed for fear of the tiles lifting and causing further problems. The decision was made to use a resurfacer designed for asphalt and they found Watco through a search on the internet.

The solution

Watco sent someone to the site to discuss their requirements and Watco Asphalt & Concrete resurfacer was suggested as the most suitable product in our range. It provides an attractive, sealed and flexible surface that can be applied at 2mm thick; this would take out the imperfections in the current surface and create a smooth and level floor. Also, being strong and durable, the new surface would last for years.

Watco offered them a sample tin of the product to test, free of charge. It was laid and then tested for 6 weeks, after which the client agreed that it was the ideal product and that they were happy to go ahead with the full order.

The area to be treated was versatile in that it could be separated by roll-down shutters down its length. The individual areas measured 1222m² and 1135m² respectively. For application, the larger area was split again into 3 x 8m wide bays and these bays were masked off, giving a clean edge to work to. A wet edge is easier to work to, but that was not possible with a work area of this size and having a straight line to work to made it easier.

The work was completed in four days, with two men mixing and pouring and three men trowelling the product to give it a smooth finish. It is possible to apply this product by levelling it with a roller and then dragging a soft broom through it to give it a textured, brushed finish. This method is much quicker, but would not have given the Kennel Club the smooth finish they required.

“The finished floor is sealed, smooth, durable and looks good, the Kennel Club are delighted with it.”

UK NSI Production New Flooring

UK-NSI are the European manufacturing hub of Nippon Seiki. They’re a Japanese company specialising in the development and supply of high-technology driver information systems to the automotive sector.

The floor in UK-NSI’s production area was looking tired and in need of an overhaul. The new flooring will provide them with a safer working environment. Central Flooring Services have been installing flooring for UK-NSI for more than three years and were invited back to complete this new project.

Project

UK-NSI wanted a hardwearing floor finish that’s easy to keep clean. They chose a bright and vibrant colour. The floor area was 450m² – covering the machine and conveyor area.

Product

Flowshield SL 2mm system, with primer and expansion joint installation.

Preparation

Central Flooring Services applied a Polycrystalline Diamond Grind (PCD) and mechanical diamond grind to the floor to provide sufficient application.

Project duration

The installation was completed over 5 days – and on time. A revisit was undertaken to apply the lines.

About the project

The flooring system is ideal for use in manufacturing areas where the floor is subjected to foot and forklift type traffic. As you can see from the photos, this self-smoothing epoxy resin floor has a high-gloss finish. It’s also hygienic, durable and impermeable. Just the ticket.

Sub-CNC Precision – Transforming the Space Following the Purchase of a New Unit

Abacus Flooring Solutions recently completed a project working in partnership with Bedfordshire-based manufacturer Sub-CNC Precision.

Sub-CNC Precision is a leading UK specialist in CNC machining of turned and milled components. As a company, they have provided high-quality components for over a decade to multiple industry sectors, across the UK and Europe, as well as exporting globally in more recent years.

After recently purchasing a new unit, company Co-Founder Yian Stavrou enlisted the help of Nick Megson and his team at Abacus Flooring Solutions to transform the space.

Yian explained: “We’d just bought a new unit, but parts of it were quite dated. The floors had been painted before, but they were tired and in need of a solution. Nick and his team at Abacus were recommended to us by a company close by and we brought them in to make a recommendation around what we needed.

We gave them a little guidance around the colour we wanted but they did the rest. Nick’s very knowledgeable about these kinds of scenarios and he recommended the perfect solution. We were happy to take Abacus’s advice on board and everything just went from there.”

Yian added: “The overall process was very good. Nick and the guys he had working for him were very professional throughout the lifespan of the project.

Nothing was too much trouble for them and I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Abacus to other companies in our industry.”

Perfectos Inks – Realising the Potential of a New Warehouse

Perfectos was started in 1969 in the garage of John & Ann Price, manufacturing ink. Within 10 years it had a turnover of £3 million.

Expansion came quickly moving to Bottesford and more recently investing heavily in this state-of-the-art Warehouse. Having a facility in Hong Kong made commercial sense as so much garment manufacturing had moved East.

Abacus Flooring Solutions were asked by good friends at Raxel to make contact with Perfectos as the floor needed to be treated. Abacus’s Founder and Managing Director Nick Megson visited site, meeting with Project Manager Neil Westley to find out the exact requirements of Perfectos and then to carry out a survey of the warehouse.

As the concrete had only been installed a few months earlier, Abacus had to apply a liquid damp-proof membrane prior to applying two coats of moisture tolerant high build coating. Abacus provided an easy to clean, slip resistant finish in the Perfectos chosen colour of Anthracite.

Abacus completed the total project in 4 days which included preparing the concrete using enclosed recoverable shot blasting. This method opens up the concrete leaving a profile for the resin to adhere.

Abacus work in all industries throughout the country installing all types of seamless resin flooring.

Swift Plant – Site Survey and Transformation of Space

Swift Plant made contact with Abacus Flooring Solutions after reading about their project for Walker Movements. Abacus arranged a full survey at Swift Plant premises in Leicestershire.

Their Workshop had recently undergone a major refurbishment programme to include a new roof, offices and toilets all redecorated and the only thing missing was a new resin floor.

Abacus agreed the specification and submitted a quotation and a drawing of the ideas they proposed i.e. layouts and colours.

The existing concrete floors were in a poor state of repair with flaking paint and a lot of oil staining.

All the concrete floors were mechanically prepared using Abacus’s state-of-the-art, remote control, diamond grinders. These are virtually a dust-free system due to the latest in dust extraction whereby all the dust is collected at source and directed into plastic bags which are fully sealed. Not only does this method protect the customer, it also protects the operator.

Once the floor was fully prepared, Abacus carried out localised repairs to the existing concrete. They then applied the first coat and let it cure overnight. Prior to applying the second coat, they inspected the finish and used a fine filler to further increase the final finish.

Abacus then sanded the floor prior to applying the final coat of epoxy coating and allowed to cure. They then marked out and applied the safety demarcation around the inspection pits and the walkway., and included a safety yellow walking person logo to show the nearest fire points. The floor was treated with a slip resistant finish as the floor is a Workshop and will experience a lot of vehicle and foot traffic.

The project was completed over a 3-day period.

The floors are specified after consulting with the client to ensure we answer all their requirements, as per BS8204-6.

Floor coating for Precast Plant

The floor area in a precast concrete plant is generally subjected to aggressive heavy traffic and abrasion, and is difficult to keep clean. Shay Murtagh not only seeks to continuously improve product quality through technology, but also encourage a sense of pride within their work-force that ultimately shines through in the finished product. A decision was made that coating the floor area of the Raharney plant would be a key element in achieving this lift in attitude.

Knowing the harsh conditions the chosen product would be subjected to, the client wanted a floor coating that was fast curing, extremely hard-wearing and easy to apply, with an attractive finish and easy to clean. Being applied in a working environment and with health and safety in mind, an additional request was that the coating be solvent-free so that there were no fumes during application. Fosroc’s Nitoflor FC150, in Powder Blue, was chosen as it meets all of these criteria and required only basic substrate preparation.

It is almost impossible to keep floor areas in a working precast concrete plant completely clean, but at Shay Murtagh a “clean as you go” attitude has been encouraged by the visually improved workspace. This attitude not only creates a safer place to work with less floor clutter and machinery / tooling is maintained to a higher level, but the concept of being proud of where you work transpires directly into all stages of manufacture and product quality is kept to a consistently high standard. The fact that the floor colour matches the traditional blue Shay Murtagh company colours was as intended and adds to the finished coating’s aesthetic appeal

Suitable slip resistant walkways

Zircon provided the long-term, slip resistant solution for these walkways, ensuring staff have a safe, hard-wearing surface on which to work.

A quick turn around was needed for this well known tool manufacturer. They required their existing flaky painted walkways replacing with a slip resistant surface suitable for a heavy duty traffic crossing.

We firstly prepared the area by means of dust free diamond grinding & scarifying.

The first and second coat of Remmers MT100 Primer was installed.

Following on from the primer we installed Epoxyflex PH (2mm) adding an accelerator to speed up the curing times.

Once that was fully cured we installed  Remmers Epoxy PH using rollers and brushes, we then broadcast Aluminium Oxide into the wet resin and back rolled it to create a slip resistant surface.

Finally we installed the yellow demarcation lines to create the ends of the walkways. 250m²

Epoxy Resin Walkways for Lancashire Manufacturers

Monarch are epoxy resin flooring contractors who install a lot of flooring within the industrial sector. On this occasion, we were asked to look at a resin walkway floor in Lancashire which had become worn due to the business of the factory. The previous surface was a rough concrete which had been painted many times by the client. As a result, the roughness created by flaking paint had created an uneven surface to move on. The factory used dollies to move the products back and forth across the walkways and as a result of the rough floor, the bumpiness caused the dollies to vibrate. This was causing a lot of issues within the factory. In the end, it was clear that the floor needed to be removed and refreshed so that they would have a smooth surface to move the products around on.

Flooring Installation

Firstly, the old painted floor needed to be removed. This was accomplished by dust free shot blasting and diamond grinding the floor until an even surface was left. Afterwards, we installed two coats of Monarprime DPM which is a damp shield coating. This helps to prevent moisture coming through the floor and reaching the surface in the form of bubbling. Later, we installed a self-levelling epoxy resin Monarflow. The self-levelling aspect of the epoxy resin is used because it creates a smooth surface on uneven floors. The colour of the floor was a special RAL colour specifically manufactured for the client.

The project was completed over weekends when the factory was closed. As a result, the resin flooring work did not cause an issue with the factories regular weekday work. There was over 350sqm in total completed over the weekend periods. The old resin expansion joints were also reinstated with new during this project.

Factory Floor in Lincolnshire for Parts Manufacturer

Factory flooring is one of the main installation services which we provide. Due to how busy a factory can be, the flooring needs to be hard-wearing against day to day use. It may also require anti-slip properties, chemical resistance or safety line marking.

In this case, the factory floor in Lincolnshire had a build-up of previous paints which had been used on the floor. Because of this, the floor needed to be ground down to remove the old paint. Once this was completed, we installed a primer coat high-build epoxy resin coating in light grey. Another two coats were added over the next few days as well as a mid-blue gangway. On the final day, we installed yellow safety lines to highlight the walkway which were 100mm wide.

The materials coordinator from the Manufacturer stated the following:

“First class job carries out in a totally professional manner. The workmanship and the attention to detail is first class. The whole experience has been perfect, and the finish is outstanding. A very good service”.

Monarch are epoxy resin flooring contractors who install factory flooring throughout the UK. We also install polyurethane and fast curing resin systems to a wide range of settings. We have offices in Derbyshire, Yorkshire and Lancashire and work throughout the UK as specialist resin flooring contractors.

Epoxy Resin Flooring at Coventry Manufacturers

Monarch are epoxy resin flooring contractors who work throughout the UK. We mainly install our epoxy resin floors within an industrial setting. This includes factory flooring and solutions for the manufacturing sector. On this occasion, we were asked to complete epoxy flooring works to a manufacturer around the Coventry area. They had a new unit which was in need of a tough and durable floor surface. They also needed safety lines added in yellow and blue walkways in the new unit.

We first mechanically prepared the floor using a dust free diamond grinding method. We also repaired and filled the existing expansion joints within the unit.  Then we installed Monarcoat 720 in two coats which is an epoxy floor product. Once the resin floor was ready, we then installed resin line marking over the top. We used blue for the walkways and a safety yellow to form the lines as requested by the client. We used Monarcoat 700 for our resin line marking which is also an epoxy resin.

As you can see from the images below, the finish of the resin floor was excellent. Our client had the following comment:

“I would just like to say how pleased I am of the Job … attention to detail is second to none … I will recommend Monarch and your staff.”

New Epoxy Floor for Boots Factory

Flowstone Industrial Flooring Limited was contracted to carry out floor refurbishment works to a Boots UK Ltd cosmetics packaging hall in Nottingham. operating from a 280-acre site on which important listed buildings sit side by side with state-of-the-art technology in the Nottingham Enterprise Zone. The site was acquired by Boots in 1927 and it is where the anti-inflammatory drug Ibuprofen was invented.

The floor surface area comprised of approximately 1,500m2 factory area which required complete resurfacing and non-staining finish throughout.

Specifying the epoxy screed floor

The Client required hard-wearing, non-staining, and easy to clean flooring solution. Having previously been let down by another contractor and their specification, they were looking for a different flooring solution which would closely match their requirements.

The floor was subject to heavy machinery and forklift traffic on daily basis. In addition, it came into contact with grease and oils from the packaging machinery, as well as alcohols such as IPA and DNE which are used to clean the machinery. Exposure to organic solvents such as MEK used for batch marking ink posed potential staining threat to the floor finish, too.

After careful consideration of various different systems, Flowstone specified Flowcrete’s Flowshield SL – 2 mm self-levelling epoxy screed, to be installed in dry packaging areas. Flowshield SL offers exceptionally hard wearing, easy to clean, impervious and chemically-resistant finish. It can be made anti-slip to match individual client requirements in areas subject to spillages, and also comes with a manufacturer-backed 6 year warranty.

Floor preparation of factory in Nottinghamm

Floor Laying Challenges

The floor consisted of a mixture of old substrates, varying from: steel and painted sand and cement screed, to 259 m2 old quartz screed and 900 m2 vinyl coverings. After floor preparation works were completed and all of the old coatings removed, the floor revealed a number of cracks with evidence of localised surface delamination within the concrete. Moisture meter readings also revealed requirement for DPM primer.

Flowstone proceeded to carry out crack bridging repairs and saw cuts, throughout. Reinforcing scrim was allowed across any significant cracks, however some of the cracks suspected to be live whereby there is a risk of vertical movement under load. In order to minimise the risk of possible lateral in the event of changing moisture levels in the base once an effective damp proof membrane is in place, significant cracks were bonded together using a low viscosity epoxy resin Flowcrete PHS.

Sequence of Works

A number of site visits were carried out from both manufacturer and Flowstone, in order to ensure that all floor preparation and installation works are being carried out to required standard.

All floor areas were thoroughly prepared by vacuum enclosed shot blasting, grinding and scarifying.

Further to completion of extensive repairs (crack banding and joints), Flowstone continued by applying 2 coats of DPM primer to the whole floor area.

Flowshield SL topping in colour Goosewing Grey was applied at 2mm thickness to all areas, providing a seamless, smooth, glossy finish throughout. The floor was complete with 256m matching coving.

The whole project took 5 weeks to complete.

Resin Floor at Birmingham Forklift Centre

Monarch recently completed an epoxy resin floor at a forklift sales and service centre located in Birmingham. The company had gone into the material handling industry in the 1960s and was now responsible for up to 85% of its forklift components, including key parts like motors, drive units, and electronic modules. Their Birmingham site had a newly concreted floor which was around 4,000sqm in size. The oil from the forklifts was being absorbed by the concrete leading to the surface becoming spoiled and damaging the aesthetic qualities of the floor. They needed a heavy duty resin floor which would be resistant to the oil as well as being able to withstand the constant use of the forklifts on site.

Installation and Final Floor

Monarch prepared the floor with diamond grinding machines followed by one coat of Resuseal WB and two coats of Resucoat HB applied in two standard grey colours. We then added in white lines as bay marking for the forklifts using a Resuline product. You can find further product info on the Sherwin Williams site. This project was successfully completed over a five day period and the final floor has a professional finish.

Sherwin-Williams finds the finish for Copperworks

Developers of the historic landmark Copperworks factory building in Leeds which has hosted a number of royal visits chose a new flooring system from Sherwin-Williams to finish its restoration as a modern warehouse facility.

The 24,400 sq metre concrete floor surface of the 90-year-old former foundry was in varying states of disrepair with several layers of coatings and iron tracks, with heavy wear and tear and oil contamination.

Sherwin-Williams’ experts, having examined the various challenging environmental issues, came up with a programme of flooring installation to meet the exacting specifications which included diamond grinding and shotblasting.

An oil-tolerant primer was applied to prevent delamination and RS Dampshield – a two-component epoxy resin membrane – was used in areas where moisture had been detected.

This was finished with two coats of Resucoat HB, a high-build, low odour, epoxy resin industrial floor coating for high impact and wear resistance. It is extremely hard wearing with a high gloss finish and has strong adhesion onto varied substrates including concrete and appropriate primers. It also comes in a variety of colours.

The old works have been refurbished with buildings re-roofed and re-clad and a modern warehousing and distribution facility of 300,000 sq ft has been created for owners Towngate plc.

The project manager said: “A solution was required to coat the floor to provide a sound surface which the tenant could keep clean easily. Sherwin-Williams has provided a first-class solution, providing a suitable specification and details of the guarantee within a very short space of time to assist us in meeting the programme to a very high standard.”

The foundry was previously known as the Leeds Copperworks and then Yorkshire Copperworks and has played host to a number of industrial breakthroughs, as well as royal visits, and at its peak was the workplace of a 5,000 strong workforce before it closed in 1980.

Sherwin-Williams’ high performance flooring systems are used in diverse industries including food and beverage, pharmaceutical, industrial, retail, commercial and aerospace offering benefits of non-taint, hard- wearing, decorative, impact resistance, slip-resistance, abrasion resistant, chemical protection and thermal shock resistance.

Improve the Standard of Your Warehouse From the Ground Up

Dilapidation work is an important consideration for both tenants coming to the end of a lease agreement and landlords preparing to re-market a commercial or industrial building as for both it can result in costs, prolonged labour, operational downtime and potentially unforeseen expenditure.

The focus of dilapidation works might be different for each party, as the tenant is looking to avoid breaching the terms of their contract and the landlord wants to quickly return the property to an as-new state so that it is ready for market as soon as possible.

One of the largest areas of concern for landlords is the floor, as it is invariably the part of the building that has weathered the most use and abuse. The floor finish of an industrial site such as a warehouse or factory is likely to have been exposed to impacts from heavy machinery and spillages of corrosive liquids such as oils or greases, while large-scale commercial spaces will have regularly subjected the floor to heavy foot traffic, frequent hot water washes and cleaning chemicals.

With tenants becoming increasingly aware of the importance of having a good quality floor surface, that is both fit for purpose and also visually pleasing for staff and visitors, more of an emphasis is placed on the landlord to ensure that this area of the site is prepared accordingly, to avoid the risk of losing potential clients.

Bringing a facility up to the standards expected by potential tenants is only half of the challenge, as the site should also meet the health and safety regulations relevant to its future use.

In storage areas, floor flatness requirements are critical, especially when dealing with high ceilinged spaces and tall shelving, where the safe operation of high-lifting equipment is paramount. Flat floors decrease vibration on forklift trucks, and so reduce the need for repairs and subsequent down time. Health and safety is increased while the risk of damage to stock is decreased with a lower chance of racks collapsing as a result of uneven surfaces.

Epoxy resin floor coatings have become a popular choice for warehouse and distribution centres, thanks to the ability of these solutions to provide a robust, level platform that can withstand onsite challenges for an extended period of time whilst providing additional operational benefits. One such epoxy resin floor coating that is especially popular in warehouse areas is Flowcoat SF41 from Flowcrete UK.

Systems such as the cement-based, pump applied topping Flowscreed Industrial Top can be specified to work alongside an epoxy coating to create a level surface prior to the application of the resin. This build-up helps to further enhance the surface regularity, and by extension, the operational effectiveness of the entire floor area.

The ability to include customisable additives means that FeRFA Type 3 rated resin finishes such as Flowcoat SF41 will not only revitalise the floor’s surface but can also add valuable benefits to the site that could appeal to potential tenants.

For example, the levels of slip resistance can be tailored to specific areas of the space. This is achieved by varying the quantity and size of the aggregates that are incorporated into the resin material to provide extra traction underfoot precisely where it is required.

Ultra durable epoxy solutions such as Flowshield SL can be chosen for the most challenging locations. This exceptionally hard wearing, self-smoothing resin floor finish is ideal for landlords who want to reduce the frequency of upgrade works as much as possible.

Its dependable, colourful and multi-functional finish makes Flowshield SL suitable for even the most heavy-duty industrial environments. High-end manufacturers Rolls Royce chose this floor finish for these qualities, as it was incredibly important to have materials that maintained an aesthetically attractive and hygienic environment despite the site’s intensive activity.

Epoxy systems have a proven track record of use in high-end industrial and warehouse facilities around the world, including at a large pharmaceutical warehouse at Heathrow Airport, for logistics giants Howard Tenens, at Royal Mail depots, Ryanair’s Prestwick hangars and Bentley Motors production headquarters.

These epoxy systems can be complemented with thick polyurethane floors in areas where there is likely to be more heavy duty operations, such as in loading bays or areas where very heavy machinery will be placed.

Landlords and tenants can take advantage of the life cycle cost savings of resin floor solutions to minimise maintenance and refurbishment costs in the future. Thanks to the long lasting nature of systems such as Flowcoat SF41 and Flowshield SL, the initial outlay can be divided into many years of reliable service, meaning that costs are reduced over the long term when compared to cheaper but more failure prone alternatives.

PU vs Epoxy – What’s the Reason for Different Resins?

The two main types of resin floors are polyurethanes (PU) and epoxies – and understanding which is appropriate for different environments is very important for many construction industry professionals.

  • The formulation of PU and epoxy systems makes them better suited to different environments
  • Find out the key differences between the two main types of resin flooring
  • Knowing when to apply the right floor is vital for contractors, architects and facilities managers

Each flooring system has differing properties suited to particular uses and choosing the wrong solution can result in costly repairs or even complete floor failure down the line.

While both are called resins, epoxy and PU floors should not be considered the same thing. Admittedly they do share similarities, such as being two-component systems (a resin and a hardener) that when brought together undergo a process of stoichiometric curing to form a solid layer. In both cases this results in a seamless, impervious coating that can be applied quickly in large quantities, but they are two very different types of materials with specific characteristics and uses.

The main difference between these two types of materials is in the molecular structure, which affects how it fuses together during the curing process. There are multiple types of components that can be used and that will vary the end result slightly.  Just to confuse issues further, when talking about PU it’s important to bear in mind that there are a few different types. There are full PU “liquid vinyl” type floors, which are great for creating soft surfaces underfoot due to the elastic nature of PU. However more common are PU deck coatings used for car parks and PU concrete systems, which are the most failure resistant type of resin flooring available.  For the purpose of the rest of this article, when referring to PU, we are referring to PU concrete systems.  Essentially PUs have a higher cross-linked density than epoxies, making them the harder wearing of the two.

Thanks to this, PU systems have long been associated with offering strength, durability and resilience when faced with a variety of testing conditions, such as heavy footfall, physical impacts, extreme temperatures and corrosive chemicals.

PU systems are therefore very well suited to industrial facilities, where the floor is likely to face a long list of challenges on a daily basis. For example, just a hand pallet truck when fully loaded could weigh in excess of one tonne, which puts a vast amount of pressure through its wheels and into the floor. The robust nature of PU systems means that they can survive the abuses of industrial operations for a very long period of time.

Epoxies on the other hand cannot tolerate intense heat as well. To exemplify this, some epoxy coatings are heat resistant to temperatures up to 65°C, whereas PU systems are available that can tolerate 120°C.

The superior chemical resistance of PU floors has made them popular in the food & beverage industry, where corrosive acids and by-products are found in large quantities. This means that floors are required that can stand up to chemical attack from organic acids as well as sugar, malt, caustic and powerful cleaning agents.

At this point it might seem like PU is the superior option, however what they give in durability they take away in versatility and aesthetics. Epoxies can be very easily adapted for a wide variety of environments and are available in a much wider range of colours, styles, effects and decorative options.

Unless there is a specific challenge or requirement for a PU, there will more than likely be an epoxy floor that is up to the task at hand, and which can do so in bright and glossy tones, glittering light reflective surfaces or multi-toned swirling shades.

This gives designers the creativity to install unique floors that convey the interior design scheme. This is a particularly good way to represent a brand identity, specific aesthetic or to infuse the environment with the desired vibe. This has made epoxies a go-to floor for large-scale commercial venues such as shopping centres and airports as well as in less heavy-duty industrial spaces or for customer-facing processing zones that need to look good as well as be functional.

PU systems also tend to be thicker and therefore heavier than epoxies, which is great for absorbing impacts and thermal shock, but if weight and space is an issue then epoxies offer a thinner and lighter option.

PU concrete is often the one found in challenging industrial facilities as it is great at withstanding punishing impacts, extreme temperatures, heavy loads, harsh chemicals and the like. It can also be customised with anti-slip aggregates, anti-bacterial additives and is highly adept at dealing with rising moisture. As already mentioned it’s just not very pretty and unless it has an aliphatic coating it isn’t particularly colour stable.

In summary, it’s not so much a case of which one is better, as it’s really about which one is better for the building in question. To find out more about what resin floors best suit a specific environment, get in touch with the resin flooring specialists Flowcrete today.
